Atelierillume and MIR make Masdar look good!
A lot of people asked us about the stunning visualisations for our Masdar project:
here they are:
all the aerial shots of the masterplan, plaza , hotel canyons and retail interiors are done in Sydney by Simon Perry and his amazing team at:
http://www.atelierillume.com.au/
Simon has an incredible taste and sense for lighting and detail.
This shows also in the Animation ( see earlier blog)
Atelierillume does many of Sydneys/Australias great visualisations for residential and commercial developments.

The Plaza shots day and night by the fabulous MIR in Norway
http://mir-visuals.com/
We found MIR on the web and were amazed by the atmosphere of their renderings.

thanks so much for your support

LAVA designs MTV AWARDS

The Killers, Jessica Mauboy, Vanilla ICE and SIA performed live on the set created by LAVA for the Vodafone MTV Australian Music Awards, screening to over 500 million homes across the world. The immersive environment featured new projections including balloons, Sydney at night and microscopic cells, for each band in a unique collaboration with TOKO graphic design and Robyn Pyon. The set used 700 square metres of white lycra, weighed 80 kgs and can be packed up into a suitcase. LAVA worked with MakMax on the fabrication and workflow. www.mtv.com.au/vodafonemtvawards

LAVA receives award by AAFAB Research Cluster

The FAB Research Cluster at the Architectural Association in London announces the results of the 2009 AAFAB Awards. The Award theme was ‘Designing Fabrication’ and the jury was interested in recently built projects that exemplify the innovative integration of design and fabrication processes through digitally driven design systems and protocols, and whose completion contributes to an international discourse on the use of emerging design and fabrication technologies.
The six award recipients will present their work at an AAFAB conference during London Design Festival week from 19-27 September. http://www.aa-fab.net/

Laboratory for Visionary Architecture Digital origami tigers

Digital origami tigers took over Tassie during the Ten days on the Island Festival. University of Tasmania's School of Architecture and Design students explored the potential of working with digital design in a two‐day workshop with LAVA Chris Bosse. The Japanese art of paper folding was translated into an architectural exploration of how the folding and repetition of modular elements can create complex and evocative spatial forms. The result: 250 thylacine‐shaped pieces were slotted together to form the seven sculptural mobiles in Spatial Origami in the foyer of the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery. http://www.tendaysontheisland.org/
