Chris Bosse judges at WAF again

Just spent the day judging 15 entries in the leisure category.

While most of the entries were of outstanding quality, including Australians Kerry Hill and WOHA, and a resort in Tasmania,

Lotus : Raas Jodhpur

the Prize went to Indian firm The Lotus Praxis Initiative for the Raas Jodhpur, a luxury boutique hotel in the old city of Jodhpur, which brilliantly combined old and new, showing a new way for contemporary architecture in the existing context of India.

A mention went to the Master Isay Weinfeld from Brazil for his resort in Uruguay and Tham & VidegÄrd Arkitekter for their outrageous Treehouse, combining hi-tech and nature lifestyle.

Domenic Alvaro blitzed the residential category with his small house in Surry Hills, Sydney – I was on the jury with Howard Tanner and Genevieve Lilley that gave this project an AIA award.
